The system is somewhat more up-to-date, created after it officially went live / stable in Feb 2011 and offers a significant decrease in the time taken to boot around 25 seconds. Kernel version is 2.6.36.
The SheevaPlug is a development platform, targeted for use as a plug computer, and designed to run network-based software services. It features a Kirkwood Series processor with an embedded Marvell Sheeva 1.2 GHz CPU equipped with 512 MB of FLASH and 512 MB of DRAM.
Connection to the home network is via Gigabit Ethernet, and offers desktop class performance, and can be used to replace a PC-based home server for many applications. Needless to say, very low power usage, extremely small foot print, and very low cost of ownership make this Plug Computer an attractive option for businesses of any size, hobbyists and professionals alike.
