Hi guys.

Anyone with some linux knowhow who can teach me an easy way to totally wipe the guruplug filesystem.
I have a guruplug server plus with dead usb that I'm about to return to NewIT and I would like to clean out personal info first.
Oh and I don't have any JTAG box.

Simplest way (but least secure) is to rm files in your home directory, and anywhere else you believe there may be personal data.

If you want to make the contents less recoverable, you would normally write pseudorandom data to the file(s) in question. But for a NAND drive, and for the JFFS2 filesystem there are most likely additional considerations. I don't think that shred or dd would necessarily achieve an ultra-secure erase.

Frankly, we wouldn't wish you to rewrite (limited lifetime) NAND blocks an exorbitant number of times, but it is quite proper that you should at least rm any sensitive files.

If you can't get at the plug via JTAG, your options are I think limited.
