A couple of months ago I requested the uBoot sources for the eSataplug http://www.newit.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,246.msg671.html#msg671. If that won't fly, I would at least like a new uBoot version supporting the machine numbers present in the main-line kernel for the applicable devices. Preferably, I would like to have the sources: as far as I know, they are covered under the GNU License policy.

Currently, there is one for the Sheevaplug and one for the eSatasheeva. I believe the rationale behind this, was to let eSata-Sheeva users save energy when not using the eSata function.
The current official machine numbers may be obtained at http://www.arm.linux.org.uk/developer/machines/ and are named "Marvell SheevaPlug" (2097) and "Marvell eSATA SheevaPlug" (2678) respectively.

thanx for the help!

The closest I ever got was being informed that the eSATA source and non-eSATA source was the same (despite the differences in the date that is displayed during boot). That sounds crazy.

And I also managed to lay my hands on 2 source collections, supplied by someone who initially came to us asking for the sources. I have uploaded them here. It's possible that these are the versions used by those at plugcomputer forum (rather than the Marvell versions); I haven't investigated them.

Dear johnbock,

The denx u-boot git now add mvsata support on orion and kirkwood.
A sheevaplug esata support can simply be add with a patch, posted on the denx mailing list.

This uboot works on newit esata sheevaplugs with a debian squeeze from a sata drive (debian installer and official debian kirkwood kernel).

The only modification is in the env parameters :
you need to do configure machid env variable with the machine id hex value.
