Hi,

I used your multi-boot/installer and has been using it on my sheeva plug. Now I would like to move to Debian Squeeze, can you please let me know the process for debian.

Thanks,
Raj

Raj -

The installer was developed by the people at the plugcomputer forum. Try a search there for "install debian", for example http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=1637.0

The principle is that instead of using an Ubuntu rootfs on the USB stick, you use a debian rootfs. You can either download a rootfs, or build one yourself - debootstrap can be used for this.

Hi,

Thanks. I would like to follow the NEWIT images. Do you have a rootf image for Debian that I can download and use it on my plug.

Thanks,
Raj

There are links from Martin Michlmayr's site to suitable "base systems". Or google for "debian rootfs ARM download" or similar. Here's one that google turns up: http://code.google.com/p/sim1/downloads/detail?name=debian-armel-lenny-rootfs-20091001.tgz&can=2&q=

Or use debootstrap to prepare an up-to-date rootfs.

I think that ours was built with debootstrap in March 2010, plus a couple of tweaks described here.

Based upon Martin's site I've been using emdebian for a few months; it's been working like a charm Wink Currently, a full fledged system (w/o X11) is occupying approx. 37% on mtd2 w/ ubifs.
