Hello

I just started playing with the SheevaPlug that comes with the Development Kit. It's currently running Ubuntu 9.04, and displays errors when trying to run "apt-get install apt-file":

Code:

So I was wondering if there were a more recent image that I could use to reflash the device and be up-to-date. If yes, should I follow the instructions presented in the SheevaPlug Installer?

Thank you.

There is no more recent version of Ubuntu (for the ARM architecture) than the installed 9.04.

Thanks Marcus. So I guess I'll just run the "apt-get" commands to bring this unit up-to-date, and proceed with learning how to use the SheevaPlug. I can always reflash the SP with Debian later.

Thank you.

Still, I'm curious about what the SheevaPlug Installer contains.

"The SheevaPlug is shipped with Ubuntu 9.04 “jaunty” installed. The standard software image does have some issues, so the first thing I did was upgrad to the latest version using the SheevaPlug installer 1.0" (source)

A slightly different pre-installed package list (a bit leaner). If there is anything that is "missing", you can install it with apt-get. Leaner, I suppose, so as to maximise the free space on the NAND drive. (Offhand I can't remember which packages are different).
