Sheevaplug=>SqueezeServer, FileServer, PrintServer

« on: 14 June 2010, 06:09:50 pm »

Hi.
After some tweaking my sheevaplug is now working as a
*) SqueezeServer
*) FileServer
*) PrintServer

Very nice indeed.

My external harddrive is selfpowered and my printer is ofcourse selfpowered too.
I have a selfpowered usb hub - but it works without the power connected too.

Do I need to power the USB hub when both my devices are selvpowered? I've been looking around and reading that the sheevaplug gets fried if you draw too much power from it - and I really don't want that to happen :-)

The power supply on the newer units is improved.

The hub itself surely draws so little power it oughtn't to be a problem.

Thanks, Marcus - I'll leave the hub unpowered and will check the temperature from time to time - already I cannot live without my plug ;-)
