OK, I now have the plug setup, have got Samba working, so I thought I would configure it to print files from other Windows PCs over the network.

I installed CUPS quite easily, and have even got the CUPS browser admin site appearing.

I found various links to my printer drivers (Canon iP5200) from Ubuntu.com, and canon Europe. However, I downloaded these, and took a peek inside the archives, and they appear to be for x86 (e.g. cnijfilter-ip4200-2.60-1.i386.rpm).  So I'm thinking that these will only work on a x86 linux - not ARM.

Is this right, or am I just over-complicating this?

Definitely don't even try to use anything marked .i386. (or .i486 or .i686).

How do we cross compile to arm. Any links or steps please advise.

You need to use a cross-compiler (or build one yourself) and compiler options. But i would first check your distribution for ready made packages.

Hi.
I got my old Brother HL-2030 printer working from windows via the Sheevaplug and cups.
Take a look at: http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=1916.0
I think that one actually can install the printer as raw - if you only want to get access to it from windows machines, where you typically have native drivers - but I'm not sure.

Regards, Bo.
