Hi,

my sheevaplug has arrived today  Smiley
but it makes an annoying noise  Sad
It's a high pitch whistle that starts not too loudly but after a few seconds (~5) it's really loud (I can hear it several metres away) and annoying.

It doesn't sound normal.
Is it a known issue ? Can it damage the sheevaplug ?

Thank you.

I would say it`s the power supply which is making the noise ?.
I`ve had a switch mode power supply which made a very high pitch noise, but only inches way not metres, that is the sound of the power supply dying !!! I would say .

No, this is not normal , the sound from the sheevaplug should be very close to zero !!!

Is this covered by the warranty ? Should I return the sheevaplug ?

I would say it`s not working correctly  ?
So ( I ) would get in contact with who I got the plug off, and return it.

1. It's not normal.

2. No. First time I've heard of it.

3. It's not my area of expertise, but AFAIK it's more likely to be a power supply component than a computer board issue.

Regardless, you should contact jason@newit.co.uk (if you bought it from us) with your original order details.

I sent two emails to jason@newit.co.uk (friday and tuesday) but I got no response.
Should I contact someone else at NewIT ?

Hello Florain

I keep trying to reply but emails are being bounced back...

Can you send Just the SheevaPlug Back to us, so you keep the cables & CD, then we can test and either repair or replace.
Postal Address is here: http://www.newit.co.uk/index.php?id=16

Sorry for the delay Sad

That's weird. I know my provider does graylisting but it's generally not a problem. I will contact my mail provider to see if your mail server is reported as a spam server and tell you what's wrong if it's the case.
