An update to this (my own) thread.
Waited for quite some time to get a response on my questions, also sent several emails to Jason, but all quiet on the western front, and therefor no reply to my messages.

Very disappointing. I was still within my guaranty period for my plug, but since I also use this plug for my work, endless waiting was not an option.
In the mean time I've ordered the power supply myself and replaced it. It's working again, but at my own expense.
Well perhaps Newit will find a way to keep this customer happy.
