I have the Dreamplug with its default Ubuntu OS. I would like to use encryption for a usb stick/sd card etc. I have discovered that cryptsetup does not work, it fails with a segmentation fault. Also ecryptfs is not usable on the dreamplug, it looks like none of the appropriate modules are available.

Can these problems be solved easily?

If I can't do anything about these problems without buying the JTAG stuff and recompiling kernels I will have to find another use for the Dreamplug from what I originally intended.

Are you sure that an encrypted filesystem is the solution for your application ?

Well it was! But I've now had a rethink and have decided to re-organise my network so that the Dreamplug can become a backup device. I automatically encrypt my private files with gpg so I won't require filesystem encryption. The dreamplug will also record streams from my networked webcams on a rotation basis. I've tested this and it works OK. This is actually a better use for the device and I only need a large sd card to do all this so I won't need to plug in any other external drives.

Still, It would have been nice if the encryption had worked!
