Sheevaplug cannot detect USB drive anymore?

Hi.
I use my sheevaplug as a squeezeboxserver but now it cannot detect the external poweret usb drive anymore. I tried:

1) Rebooting and nothing shows up in /dev
2) Rebooting with out drive and then turn on external drive. And still nothing shows up.

It's been working without any problems for over a year now. Could it be hardware failure?

The drive is fat32 and I checked it by connecting to my pc and it showed up fine.

when I run fdisk -l it doesn't show up. I'm running debian squeeze from a 4 gb sd card where the Squeezebox server latest version is installed.


Any ideas? Please.

Have you tried plugging something else into the sheevaplug's USB port ?

Well I tried another usb drive with the same result. :-( So I'm out of ideas.

Hi again.

Well after some testing I was actually able to connect another usb drive to the sheevaplug and see it under /dev/sda - so I guess my other drive is getting old. I've put the other drive on my routers usb and are now able to access it via samba on the sheevaplug - but eventually it's just a matter of time before I'll buy a real NAS storage with two disks... I will not loose my music and photos.

After reading a bit on the forum. I actually suspect my sheevas psu to be worn out (it is still working but the plug is quite warm). Now I'm faced with two options:

1) Buying the replacement psu (sheeva bought june 10 warranty out).
or
2) Buying an external psu an modding the sheeva myself.

Wouldn't option 2) actually be the best solution - then I'll get the psu completely away from the mainboard - and I suspect longer lifetime of my sheevaplug? Do any of you out there have experience with replacement PSU lifetime?
