Very pleased with myself this morning.

Managed to get my plug working as an iPlayer based PVR (as well as a web, mail, database and file server  )

Download the get_iplayer perl script and the arm build of flvstreamer from http://linuxcentre.net/getiplayer/download.

Then install id3v2 and ffmpeg via apt.

I'd recommend setting up a dedicated folder on an external USB drive for hopefully obvious reasons.
You can set that as the default output location for get_iplayer with ./get_iplayer --prefs-add --output=/media/USB/iPlayer for instance.

Also worth mentioning that if you've LAMPed your plug, you can also run the web front-end PVR

The ARM build of flvstreamer is for the NSLU2
 
I've included recompiling instructions for the Sheevaplug at Linuxcentre (search on the page for "Sheeva").
I'm just waiting to see if Phil is willing to host my binary.

Thanks for the info about get_iplayer.  Up until now I've used the iplayer web interface and Audacity to record programmes - this makes it so much easier and quicker - although Audacity is still useful to top and tail programmes.

Installed get_player on Debian squeeze running on an SD card using:

wget http://linuxcentre.net/get_iplayer/packages/get-iplayer-current.deb
sudo dpkg -i get-iplayer-current.deb
sudo apt-get -f install

followed by:

wget http://linuxcentre.net/get_iplayer/get_iplayer.cgi

to install the Web PVR Manager, started by:

perl get_iplayer.cgi --port=1935 --getiplayer=/usr/bin/get_iplayer

I found Wobblybob's blog useful - setting up the local drive for example, although shouldn't the preferences and options use double-hyphens?

I  have to enter:   get_iplayer –-type=radio “News”  for example.

Hi All,

Well, I followed the instructions too and got it working, almost. I seem to have a problem with the aac files from radio programs. On the PC they'll play fine but the ones downloaded via the SheevaPlug seem to be corrupted. The Sheeva file for the same program is coming out about 1k bigger.

Does any else have this problem? Are there settings for ffmpeg? I just used apt-get install ffmpeg as in WobbyBob's "howto".
