Dear All,

I have problem with both of my esata SheevaPlugs: it will fail to boot from USB drive (ext2load) if several devices are connected to usb hub.

Each of my plugs will fail in usb start regardless where the usb drive is connected if only there is another device connected to hub.

Here are is succesful log when only usb storage is connected:

Marvell>> usb start
(Re)start USB...
USB:   scanning bus for devices... 4 USB Device(s) found
scanning bus for storage devices... 1 Storage Device(s) found
Marvell>>

Here are log of attempted start with several devices (usb uart, usb printer - whatever really)

Marvell>> usb start
(Re)start USB...
USB:   scanning bus for devices...
USB device not responding, giving up (status=20)
4 USB Device(s) found
scanning bus for storage devices... Device NOT ready
   Request Sense returned 00 00 00
0 Storage Device(s) found

After OS starts I can connect and use the other usb devs so as a workaround I still can boot kernel from flash I but I'd like to enjoy flexibility of loading kernel from usb drive.

Please advice any solution, looks to me like a uboot issue, my version is U-Boot 1.1.4 (Jul 14 2009 - 06:46:57) probably most recent available.

Thank you!

Bartek

AFAIK this is known behaviour; that if you want to boot from a USB device it must not be connected via a hub. In other words, since you only have 1 USB port, if you wish to boot from USB, you can't use any other USB devices.

Fair enough. Not a big deal after all. I just run kernel from run instead of USB and then mount drive. I can really live with that.

Thanks.
