I received a eSata Sheevaplug about a month ago.

I noticed that the "vents" on 2 sides of the case aren't actually venting anything at all - it seems like they are decorative as I can't see any opening in the plastic at all.

I found a related earlier forum discussion about this:

http://www.newit.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,339.0.html

where Marcus from NewIt agreed with the original poster that on the eSata Sheevas he'd checked the vents were indeed not properly cutout and he'd bring it to the attention of Globalscale. This was in August last year............I guess Globalscale made it a top priority issue to address....not!

Anyway in the same discussion Jason @ NewIT said "You can clear the ventalation slots without voiding the warranty."

Now to do this properly (as the vents on the unit I have are completely closed off) would mean opening the case to cut out the plastic slots............so can NewIT confirm that opening the case will not void the warranty?

I can confirm that Globalscale have been made aware of the issue; I suppose that the cost of retooling may be the obstacle.

If you write to Jason to advise him that you wish to open your plug in order to clear the slots, I am sure he will confirm that we will allow that, and make a note against your order(s).

Darn, I replied to the other thread when this new one was around. So, we have to inform we're making the slot opening procedure?
