Hi,

Be aware that some people have received Dreamplugs from Globalscale clocked at 400Mhz not 1.2Mhz due to a cockup at Globalscale.

Read this posting from the Other Place:-

http://plugcomputer.org/plugforum/index.php?topic=5765.0

I do not know whether any 400Mhz devices escaped over here, but you should be aware of the issue. The post above indicates how to check them.

GlobalScale are exchanging the slow devices for the correct clocked variety.

Regards

Hi

You can quickly test your dreamplug for correct  clock speed by doing:-

root@ubuntu:/proc# cat cpuinfo

If you see this

Quote
Processor       : Feroceon 88FR131 rev 1 (v5l)
BogoMIPS        : 396.49
Features        : swp half thumb fastmult edsp
CPU implementer : 0x56
CPU architecture: 5TE
CPU variant     : 0x2
CPU part        : 0x131
CPU revision    : 1

If the BogoMIPS are  around 396 then your Dreamplug id running  at 400 Mhz

A "good" Dream plug clocked at 1.2 GHz will show around 1192  BogoMIPS.

cheers

P

Well, the "good" news is that we don't have ours yet. We'll certainly be making sure that Globalscale send us the correct units.

For confidence and a positive note, (which is seeming rare, so far on this forum) it would appear mine doesn't have this issue:

Code:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
Processor : Feroceon 88FR131 rev 1 (v5l)
BogoMIPS : 1192.75
Features : swp half thumb fastmult edsp
CPU implementer : 0x56
CPU architecture: 5TE
CPU variant : 0x2
CPU part : 0x131
CPU revision : 1

Hardware : Marvell GuruPlug Reference Board
Revision : 0000
Serial : 0000000000000000

According to this post there was a software fix to this problem. We discussed this issue with Globalscale prior to them sending us our Dreamplugs, so we didn't expect to be receiving any slow models.
