Last year I bought the Sheeva Multi Boot at New IT.
I ordered it together with an SD Card that had Ubuntu as OS which was very handy.
That pre-installed Linux distribution has been optimized for the ARM processor.

I noticed that New IT sells the new DreamPlug which will be available this April: http://www.newit.co.uk/shop/proddetail.php?prod=DreamPlug
It does not have an option (yet?) to buy it with an "OS SD Card".

Will the DreamPlug be available with a pre-installed Linux distribution SD Card?
If yes, what distro + version?

Is it easy to create a SD Card with OS yourself?
Could someone point me to a "OS on SD Card" tutorial?

Thanks!

The only Dreamplug that we have seen so far is an advance model. It arrived with Debian on the micro SD card, however the production versions will have Ubuntu. In the light of the fact that there may be additional changes (to U-Boot, for instance) before we receive the production version, we can't give any promises about which OSes we can or can't supply. However, we hope that to be able to offer Debian. (We only offer a choice of Debian or Ubuntu for the Sheevaplug, but we have also successfully tested Fedora and Slackware).

Well, it was easy for the Sheevaplug and we expect it to be easy - probably easier for the Dreamplug

Not until the Dreamplug becomes available. But in principle, all you would need to to is replicate the partitioning of the microSD card, use the official kernel but replace the rootfs. You can download ARM rootfs for Fedora (some versions, not all), and you can build one yourself for Debian or Ubuntu using debootstrap. I think there may also be some downloadable pre-built Debian rootfs's.

Thanks for your reply!

Ubuntu = fine. I prefer Ubuntu because it's also my 'choice of weapon' on my desktop.

Actually, I haven't created one for the Sheevaplug.
I used the one that I bought together with the Sheevaplug.
So I don't have any experience with it, nor do I know if it's easy  Smiley
